I am pleased to announce our latest addition, orthopaedic surgeon Dr. Alejandro Miranda. He comes to us from Santa Monica, California where he completed a sports medicine fellowship at the world renowned Cedars-Sinai Kerlan-Jobe Institute, who pioneered the Tommy John Surgery famous in MLB and who popularized much of the research behind knee anterior cruciate ligament injury prevention. This is where Dr. Miranda further specialized in lower extremity sporting injuries, arthroscopic surgery of the hip and knee, and cartilage restoration. There, Dr. Miranda had the pleasure of taking care of various sports teams including the US Men’s and Women’s National Soccer teams, LA Galaxy and LA Football Club Major League Soccer teams, and the internationally awarded and acclaimed FC Barcelona. He also assisted as physician for Pepperdine University Athletics, PGA Tour’s Genesis Open, and the Amgen Tour of California, a professional cycling stage race and UCI World Tour’s only stop in the US.
Dr.Miranda also completed yet another year-long fellowship at the prestigious University of Pennsylvaniain Philadelphia, under the direct guidance of prior president of the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society, Dr. Keith Wapner. While there, he dedicated his time to practicing the full spectrum of non-operative and operative foot and ankle treatments, whether for the resilient adolescent, the demanding ballerina in the Pennsylvania Ballet, or for the hard-working with a painful step. He deliberated over the details of techniques used for Achilles tendon reconstruction, ankle replacement surgery, and ankle ligament repair, among many others.
Prior to his fellowship training he attended the University of Miami Jackson Memorial Hospital Orthopaedic Surgery Residency Program in Miami. This Level-I Trauma Center exposed him to the complexities and demands of inner-city trauma and fracture care, and provided him with the foundation of orthopaedic knowledge he uses today.
Dr. Miranda is a highly trained, highly motivated orthopedic surgeon who came to Steamboat for the purpose of taking care of an impressively active, athletic population as this one. He looks forward to providing next-level evidence-based care to his patients, with the latest orthopedic advancements and techniques. One of the traits that sets Dr. Miranda apart, besides his clinical and academic accolades, is his remarkable connection with his patients. Being a self-proclaimed athlete himself, he is mindful of the fact that each patient is unique and a unique personal approach must therefore be taken. He finds it a privilege to have joined your community and now direct his attention to you.
